It has been 5 years since I was in my senior year at Freed Hardeman University, living in room 115 in Brigance dormitory, acting as president for XBX social club, surviving mono, and trying to help my fiance get a wedding together. I am thankful for those days. I am thankful that from 2003 to 2007 I chose to attend FHU. I am thankful for FHU mostly for the people that God brought into my life because of my college choice. My facebook news feed is filled with friends engaged in the mission of God. I will always be thankful for how I was challenged most by fellow students to pursue the heart of God. Here is a small representation of the memories I am thankful for from my time in and around Henderson, TN.
- Freshman Year Interface: The group I was placed in was an all star group
- Paul Gray, 2nd floor, four man room with Paavo, Rett, and Miika
- Spring Break Missions to Pensacola, FL, Virginia Tech, and Center, KY
- Makin Music
- Angry Gnome
- Maywood Retreats
- Having constant prayer partners and friends to do life with
- Coffee and Music Appreciation with Neil Segars
- Working at Luray where my Great Grandad, Grand father and father had been before me
- Working at Bethel Springs w/ Dr. Lipe, Terry Edwards, and Tony Allen esp. the breakfast meetings at Jack's
- Bills BBQ with the Bills Crew
- Officer's Retreats
- The last week in Brigance Fall 2006
- Years of Horizons
- Being an interface leader for 2 years
- Europe trip: This was the life defining part of my FHU existence
- Sharing a year on campus with my sister
- Campus wide devos on Tuesday and Thursdays
- LOST w/ the Alsbrooks
- Office Nights
- Scary Movie Nights (Paavo never made it through a whole movie in our two years of attempts)
- 533 Hill Ave
- The Orange incident
- Finding and marrying Ashley
I am sure I have missed some terribly important experiences but that is always what happens when you try to make lists like this. Thank you to everyone who made my FHU experience memorable.
